Clifford F. Zoller is vice president and chief audit executive at Ryder System, Inc. Reporting directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, he is responsible for all aspects of corporate adherence to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act including the company’s internal assessment of internal controls over financial reporting (Section 404). He also performs a detailed annual risk assessment to be utilized in developing the corporate audit plan designed to ensure comprehensive worldwide audit coverage and to identify opportunities to obtain operational efficiency, enhance revenue, and reduce costs. He has instituted a continuous forensic auditing program and is responsible for overseeing the company’s hotline program, including the investigation and reporting of all financial allegations. His professional career has included corporate strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and management consulting in strategic services at KPMG. The author of six books and over 75 articles, his work is published in leading business journals including Harvard Business Review. He is the editor of the Strategic Management section of Strategy Finance and lecturers frequently at universities and conferences in Europe.
